Leather As A By-Product

Faux leather purseIn researching leather as a by-product I came up with both aspects of people for leather, and people against leather.  Both aspects have their pros and cons. For example some sources say that in the leather industries the raw materials are by-products of the meat industry, with the meat having higher value than the skin. For example, the beef we get from the cow is worth more than the leather its skin provides.

However, Vegans might say that to purchase a leather purse or leather coat would be supporting the cruelty of animals. They would argue the fact of leather being a by-product and would not purchase anything that came from any animal ant any time. Vegans might choose faux leather products which are made out of nylon or PVC forms of plastics. This is a question that will go on for generations.

Leather

Faux leather is artificial leather. It is not made of  or from any animal skin. You can find faux leather that looks and feels so much like real leather you could not tell the difference. People may choose a faux leather purse, furniture, and fabrics for many different reasons. Faux leather usually costs less than real leather, or for some people real leather may be unsuitable.

Faux leather is made out of many different things. “Pleather” is made out of polyurethane. Koskin is an artificial leather material commonly found in computer laptop cases. It is made to look and feel like authentic leather. “Vegan leather” is an artificial alternative to traditional leather.  Some people choose this for ethnic reasons. So whether you decide on real leather, pleather, or any of the other faux leathers you can bet that it will be durable, beautiful, and stylish. Happy Hunting! ; )
