Ink Stain On My New Leather Purse

Ink Stained Leather PurseI bought a brand new leather purse for myself on my Birthday. I was so excited because I normally do not spend more than 20 dollars on any of my accessories. I spent 150 dollars on my Birthday purse and I loved it.

I had the purse for a month before a pen busted inside of it. I thought it was ruined. My bestfriend told me to get tannery vintage leather cleaner & conditioner. She told me it worked for her leather couch so I tried it on my leather purse. It worked very well. All the small stains on the outside of my purse were gone and very small signs of the stain were on the inside. I did not care, I was very happy.

Handmade Leather PouchI found this article by Paula Bidwell. She is writing about the history about handmade leather pouches. This artical made so much sense to me. I shared this with my family and they loved it. I wanted to share it with everyone.

“A Native American medicine bag is a small leather bag or pouch that contains various healing objects. They are often painted or beaded with designs specific for the wearer. This is done to entice or invoke the spirit of the animal, figure or symbol.

What’s inside is another story. A medicine bag can contain innumerable objects. These objects are as unique as the person wearing it. Many people add their own “medicine” or healing objects. Although, most often a medicine person or indigenous healer will make the bag and add the contents. Common medicine bag objects are stones, ash from a ceremony fire, roots and barks, herbs, feathers, dirt from a ceremonial ground, or wood from a tree struck by lightening.

Many people like their medicine bags very ornate and fancy, but in reality the bag should be downplayed. This is especially true when a medicine bag is made for protection, for instance, protection from jealousy, enemies, negativity, bad spirits, illness and the list goes on and on. A medicine bag is kind of like an “ace up your sleeve”. Or maybe like a spray can of mace or another self defense weapon. You keep it handy, but you don’t wave it around or threaten folks with it.

Medicine bags or pouches last a long time. They are made of leather and are extremely durable. But there comes a time when the medicine bag just wears out. The neck cord has broken so often it may look like a string of knots. The leather has worn down and looks like it’s been left out in the rain too long. What do you do with it at this stage? You can take the contents of the bag out and put them into another bag or you can leave the contents in the bag. You take the bag to a remote location. Somewhere that people seldom go to. Then hang the medicine bag or pouch in a tree where it’s barely visible.

The helping birds such as ravens, crows, eagles, or hawks and the “invisible beings” such as angels or guardians will disassemble the bag and remove all traces of it. Some people have been known to bury their bags. But this isn’t recommended. In the earth the bag will continue to exist and the special medicine belonging to it could be dug up and innocently or not so innocently misused. There are stories of ancient medicine pouches that were found, taken home or put in a museum and then all sorts of terrible things began to happen. Anyway, it is much better to let the angelic beings and our helper birds take care of something as precious as a medicine bag.”

Cutting Down On Shopping Time

purse

There seems to be two fundamental groups of people. There are those that absolutely love to shop for purses, and there are those that detest it. For some woman, browsing through extensive collections of purses offers a fun and entertaining afternoon. But for other woman, even the prospect of weeding through all those options and fabrics and sizes gives them a headache.

If you are one of those women that can’t stand purse shopping, consider looking into leather purses. These are a great option for the shopping-averse individual, because they last for so long. Especially if you choose a really high quality purse, you can use that purse day in and day out for years without any sign of obvious wear and tear. Fabric purses, on the other hand, tend to show dirt and wear. Choose a classic leather color such as black or brown, and you might not have to shop for another purse for years!

Choosing a Motorcylce Saddlebag

Motorcycle SaddlebagChoosing a motorcycle saddlebag is not as easy as it seems. There are plenty of makes, models, colors, and sizes to choose from. It can be a trying task or an exciting purchase shopping for your motorcycle.

First know how much money you are willing to pay. Do the investigation on what type of material you are wanting. A  leather saddlebag can be the way to go for durability and adornment, or maybe you would like one made of PVC (polyurethane) for easy cleaning.

The next step is to decide based on pricing and material do you want to go universal or custom. The difference between this would be mostly money. Of course a custom saddlebag can be more expensive but maybe you drive a Harley and you only want Harley gear, well that is great! Universal saddlebags are great because most of the time they are a lot less than custom and you can find them in a lot of places. Have fun looking for the perfect fit to your “ride”!

Leather

Faux leather is artificial leather. It is not made of  or from any animal skin. You can find faux leather that looks and feels so much like real leather you could not tell the difference. People may choose a faux leather purse, furniture, and fabrics for many different reasons. Faux leather usually costs less than real leather, or for some people real leather may be unsuitable.

Faux leather is made out of many different things. “Pleather” is made out of polyurethane. Koskin is an artificial leather material commonly found in computer laptop cases. It is made to look and feel like authentic leather. “Vegan leather” is an artificial alternative to traditional leather.  Some people choose this for ethnic reasons. So whether you decide on real leather, pleather, or any of the other faux leathers you can bet that it will be durable, beautiful, and stylish. Happy Hunting! ; )

best_swimming_pool_at_mexico_all_inclusiveA friend of mine was planning a trip to Mexico with her husband for there anniversary. She was so excited never being out of the United States before. I asked her if her husband and her had there passports. She asked “do I need a passport for Mexico?”

My Mother and I had taken a cruise to Ensenada, Mexico in 06′ and I had remembered asking the same questions while booking our cruise. Our agent responded “not on this trip but in january of ‘07 Mexico will require a passport to enter and exit” So we had been saved seeing as that our trip was only in five weeks. I was told its practically impossible to get them that quick.

I did not know if the law had actually changed or not when my friend had asked me that, but better safe than sorry right. So since her husband and her had four months until there trip they went down and applied for there passport. When she received it I had suprized them both with leather passport covers. My friend loved that I pick her out her favorite color. Red!

Self-Defense: Police Logo on a Leather Tote

police-leather-duffle-bagMany people think of self-defense as a karate kick to the groin or jab in the eyes of an attacker. But self-defense actually means doing everything possible to avoid being attacked. Self-defense is all about using your head.

Awareness is a very important aspect of self-defense. This applies to both men and women. Here are some actions you can take to prevent becoming a target.

 1. Keep your head up and always be aware of your surroundings. Do not listen to headphones or read while you walk. This creates distraction and makes you vulnerable.

2. Always walk with purpose to project yourself as confident.

3. Trust your instincts, your intuition, combined with your common sense, can help you get out of trouble.

4. Keep your hands free.  A way to keeping your hands free is to put your belongings in bag. A leather tote over your shoulder with a police logo on it can provide you with protection by offering a deterrent. You can carry your belongings in it and any tools you have for self -defense.

Remember… Stay Aware! Stay Safe!

My son just graduated from law school. My husband and I were beyond proud. He was the first one in our family to attend college and we were overjoyed when he decided to go to law school. He graduated at the top of his class and was offered a position at a top law firm in New York.

Before he started his new position we wanted to throw him a little party to show him how proud we were. We surprised him with a brand new shiny brown leather briefcase. It was perfect for his job as a legal professional.

Choosing a Messenger Bag

There is no reason a man should feel threatened to wear a shoulder bag. There are many styles and varieties that don’t look feminine in the least. Leather messenger bags are especially masculine looking. These bags are designed to carry a multitude of items. Many men carry their laptops, personal items and work items in messenger bags.

There are two things to consider when choosing a messenger bag. First, you’ll want to think about what its primary use will be. If you travel to work by bicycle or on foot, then you’ll need one that’s waterproof. If it’s more for fashion, you can pick a model based on the style. Messenger bags come in a variety of styles; some feature prominent logos, multiple colors and varying straps. In terms of color, you should consider what you will be wearing with your bag. A dark brown or black bag is always a good choice for everyday wear. While a multi-colored, or bright colored bag works well for a special occasion.
